Situation in Nepal

On August 26, a massive collapse of glacial ice and rock high in the Himalayas triggered a catastrophic flash flood along the Nepal–China border. With little warning, a powerful surge of water, mud, rock and debris swept through mountain valleys and communities, destroying homes, roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure.

Communities in both Nepal and Tibet, China, have been devastated. Hundreds have been killed or remain missing, families have been displaced, and some areas remain difficult to reach because of damaged roads and infrastructure. Rescue and recovery efforts continue as the full extent of the disaster becomes clearer.

How We Are Helping

Our Goal is to serve 250 families which is roughly 1,250 people, give or take. To serve these families, we currently estimate that $100 per family will provide for tents, water, food (1 month), blankets and mattresses. The total current goal is $25k.

If we raise more money, we’ll do more. If we can find better prices, we’ll help more families.

Again, this is our best estimate as of August 28, 2026 and we will update this figure as new information comes in. We are unsure how local prices will be affected by this disaster because we try to buy food and materials as close to where the need exists to help the local economy.

The giving button above will take you to the online giving page that we call the Silk Road Fund. Everything given to the Silk Road Fund through the end of September will be used toward this relief effort.

If you’d like to give by check or through a Donor-Advised Fund, have the check sent to Silk Road Catalyst, PO Box 5764, Spartanburg, SC 29304. For some Donor-Advised Funds, you may need to use CrossCampus International. CCI is our legal name while SRC is our “Doing Business As” name.

Please use the term Silk Road Fund if you give by check. Otherwise, your donation will be allocated to the General Fund since we still receive these type of donations during this time. Why We Are Helping

Silk Road Catalyst is not a relief organization. However, when disaster strikes a country or ministry field where we have established relationships, we believe there are times when we need to respond. We did this following the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria in 2023, and today we are preparing to do the same in Nepal.

For the past two years, SRC has been serving in villages affected by this disaster, working alongside believers, pastors, and churches. This tragedy is deeply personal for our team. Our Nepali Director, Ezra, lost friends, and some of the churches and communities we have been connected to have been devastated. As you can imagine, this has been a difficult week as our team has processed the loss.

Because of these deep relationships, we knew we could not simply watch from a distance.

The government and larger relief organizations are responding in many important ways, but in disasters of this magnitude, there are inevitably people and communities who fall through the gaps. That is where we believe SRC can help.

Rather than attempting to create a separate relief operation, we will work through native believers who already know these communities and understand their needs. They will cooperate with local officials and community leaders to identify where gaps exist and help ensure assistance reaches those who need it most.

Our goal is simple: to come alongside the people and churches we already serve, demonstrate the love of Christ in a tangible way, and help meet needs wherever we are able.
